Well, I finally did it. I saw kd in Long Beach last night!!!! The concert itself was no different than all of her others. There was no sign of the ditzy blonde
lady and the only mention of Ari Bhod was her saying that all proceeds would go to the foundation (to which there was much cheers and applause). So I'm
only left with describing my feelings about the whole thing (prepare to fall asleep).
The first wonderful thing to happen was at the ticket booth where I was handed a beautiful SIGNED box set of Watershed. I was so thrilled because I downloaded that album off of I Tunes so till now I had no cover art. And then to have her autograph in there, well.....
So we went inside and I had a glass of wine (which would come back to haunt me) then found our awesome third row seats and settled in to watch Dustin which was quite relaxing and lovely. So the intermission was winding down and I was beginning to feel like I needed to visit the ladies room (remember that glass of wine). Paranoid that I might pee in my pants when I first saw her anyway, I decided not to chance it and got up and went. As I was sitting on the toilet, I heard "Upstream" starting!!!! "Damn it" was one of many many expletives that I muttered as I ran as fast as I could out of that bathroom and back into the hall looking like a complete ass I'm sure. So can you believe it? I missed her entrance! Oh well, what can you do?
Her singing was simply divine.!!!! There was not a note out of place, and she never once sounded winded. The sheer power of her voice is unbelievable! I knew it was going to be great but nothing prepares you for the experience. It was very surreal being THAT close to the person who has been the object of my affection/obsession for the past 9 months (can you believe I've only been a fan that long?)!!! The songs which stood out the most for me, were : "Wash Me Clean" (which someone else here mentioned recently in a review) It was just... breathtakingly beautiful. I can't even describe it! , and "Shadow And The Frame" (which is my favorite off of Watershed) was just outstanding! (I'm running out of adjectives here!)
The guys were completely flawless and I love Mr. long hair(Yowza!!) There is one thing I wanted to ask you about. Did kd say that the band had been serenading her and then have them sing a cappella? I can't remember if I read that in other concert reviews or not.
Well, that's about it. It was bar none, the best concert I've ever seen. Please forgive the long windedness of this but after all it was my "first time"
