04/06/02 19:58:00	Tags : None Did you see the Jubilee concert last night? Wasn't it good ? It made me feel proud to be British .It was very unstuffy with the comedians introducing the musical acts, the fire work display (which was fantastic),a million people outside the palace and Charles calling the Queen Mummy !, Paul Macartney was fantastic (Abe Laboriel was there doing his bit) And of course Tony Bennett did a song (shame it wasn't one with k.d.) -did anyone here actually go ? 04/06/02 21:40:00	hahahahaha!! what a riot! thanks, kf. you know who'd get the biggest laugh out of that? diana! in some ways, this vid and the whole 'user friendly' jubilee is a vindication of what she stood for: the monarchy made modern. btw: how was abe? did they give him a close-up? and tony? with both of them there, it really is all the more a shame she was not.

04/06/02 23:56:00	I really enjoyed the concert too, much more than I expected. There was a fantastic line of of artists. I was very impressed by the opening act - Brian May of Queen - playing his electric guitar on the palace roof. How cool was that. I thought Tony Bennett's performance was ok but a bit overshadowed by some of the other great talent.

Imagine having a bash like that, with some of the world's greatest talent performing. But was hoping that k.d. would appear with tony b.(sigh) In the US everyone is Irish on Saint Patty's day; everyone was British for the Jubilee! the link you posted was tooo funny! LOL Thanks

05/06/02 01:48:00	Yes I really enjoyed the concert and as you say KF it did make me feel very proud. I waited with baited breath to see if Tony might bring kd on with him but alas he sang alone. I also watched the procession and ceremony in St Pauls today and though, of course, a lot more formal it was also fantastic.

05/06/02 04:50:00	I watched some of the concert onMonday pm, in between doing other things, but I enjoyed the 'Prom Concert' more, which was on Saturday. I watched with my daughter who is an ardent anti royalist (it's her age, we all go throught it!), and also the service fromSt Pauls this morning. That made me feel very proud to be British, I dont think there is any country in the world that does ceremonial things better than us.

05/06/02 06:33:00	It's certainly been fantastic. I think that no-one does do that as well as we Brits. The fireworks, with Buckingham Palace used as a screen for a visual display, was amazing. I taped the pop concert and have not yet seen most of it, but I take it that Abe was the drummer kd had? I thought I recognised him. I even liked the Queen's red hat today, and the blue one wasn't bad, and it's not often I can say that. A great and happy few days.

Whatever anyone might say about an hereditary Head of State rather than a democratically elected one, what else could unite the country, have a million joyful people celebrating and enjoying themselves in central London, with that sort of show, and have street parties and village celebrations with complete strangers coming together and feeling so proudly patriotic and united? The only other thing is peace after war and we can do without war. Apart from that, there is football, and forgive me for thinking, that that is an excuse for national pride or upset, rather than anything really meaningful. I will never forget the President of France, at the end of the last World Cup, saying that was the greatest day for France since the Second World War. Poor them. Long Live The Queen.
