Well, we were there yesterday. Me and Caz had a mini meetup in London and took in a visit to the NPG while we were there, followed by a light lunch at the
Garrick Arms and then onto Covent Garden where we saw the invisible man and a gorilla......
Needless to say we hovered in front of k.d.s photo for quite sometime looking into those peircing eyes, that seemed to follow you around. A couple of photos....

Oh, you two are so lucky.
Starbucks??? Now what (or should I say "who") took you to Starbucks?
Have you noticed that kd is wearing earrings in that photo? Very good photo of Caz. Can we have one of the invisible man, please?

I was going to ask if anyone had been to see this, we have tickets for it next week. I
know its only one photo, and perhaps not the iconic kd picture I would have chosen (but that's a topic for another thread) I am still looking forward to it
all the same!!! Nice to be back on the board |

Well, straight up and no messing here.
I was just about to snap a pic of the invisible man peanutsfan, and....................... ..................poof !!! he disappeared, now ain't that queer!
Just for you manon will this do ??!!!
Well, I did buy some postcards of the photo hanging in the gallery (I thought they might miss the one on the wall) and a rather large copy of the advert poster to the exhibition. In the photo Shelley took, I was trying to recreate the pose..........bit difficult when your hand is full of stuff though. Yes manon and Shelley the Starbucks antenna is still working well...........you could say I'm well and truly decaffveinated!!! That's a rather nice name..........Ruby Gates..........hmmmmm!!! Sokay Ruby, I'm nuts but most people are used to it. And here is the delightful Shelley in magnificent Technicolour, and B&W

Hi Maddy...............there is also a Gay Icon Exhibition thread on the Talk and Twang board. To save me rewriting it though these were my personal thoughts
on said Exhibition.
Erm! and a serious comment warning coming up here!! One thing that struck me about some of the photos in the exhibition. Obviously there was only one picture of real interest, but one has to be objective about these things. So here goes...................... It's amazing what you can achieve if you have famous parents. What I'm getting at here is, Mary McCartney (sibling of the Beatles McCartney empire) had a number of her photos hanging in the gallery. Jolly good show ...........round of applause! However, I felt the content, focus and the composition of those photos were very poor. For instance, the picture of Billie Jean King made her look dwarfish, and with a very big hand slap bang in the centre of the picture drawing attention to itself. Perhaps it was an emphasis on the fact you need a blooming big hand to whack a tennis ball over the court at 100 mph. Sarah Waters seemed to have been caught with her eyes shut, and the books in the rather substantial, smack you in the face, bookcase were out of focus. In others, there were parts of the picture I would have personally cropped to make the composition look more of a finished product, and indeed as if some thought had gone into the composition of the subject matter. I would be very surprised if Mary didn't have all the facilities needed to carry out a professional photograph, unlike us folks who have to make do with the stolen snap shot as someone shoots past you, and that's if you're lucky! So the question is:- Does some talent rest solely on who your famous parent/s are rather than the talent you may personally have yourself? Perhaps being a pernickety Virgo, I'm over critical when something offends the artistic eye. If so I apologise. Be interesting to see what other attendees of the exhibition think

Hey Mads, please do go and see the exhibition. If anything combined with a trip to the landmark centre of the universe, it should be interesting.
Why not take yer cousin with you?...........retail therapy too. (As if punning wasn't bad enough, poor Shelley was dragged into any Starbucks or New Age shop found en route.) After all, one persons's opinion may not be the same as another. It's a bit like these film critics who rave about a film you may think is absolute tosh, and then slam a totally brilliant film .......when you see the film yourself you thoroughly enjoy it. FLAKO'S BACK!!!!!..........hurrah! welcome back sis. Ears to the sight for sore eyes then. Yer nose what?....... we've missed yer.

Ah Shelley and Caz. You look very fetching beside the photo of kd. Isn't it nice that for once our girl is featured in front of all the others.
It is such a mesmerizing photo of her. She is gazing out at London. Bless her. |

k.d.s photo is the most striking Abs. Me and Caz noted k.d.s eyes follow you around, it is indeed a mesmerising portrait. The others in that set are also
wonderful!
