Susan Boyle's first TV audition is just as controversial as her latest one (AAP).
The video shows Boyle, then aged 33, auditioning unsuccessfully for the UK TV program My Kind of People in 1995.
Barrymore - whose career collapsed after the suspicious death of a man at his home in 2002 - ridicules Boyle throughout the video.
While she sings, he makes obscene gestures in the background and tries to look up her skirt.
Fellow contestant Elizabeth McLean's daughter recorded the performance, which was never broadcast on the show.
"When she began to sing, I knew she had a great voice but Michael Barrymore was taking the mickey out of her," Ms McLean told the Daily Mail.
Barrymore made headlines when he came out as gay in the same year as Boyle auditioned for his show - surprising his wife of 21 years, Cheryl.
She divorced him in 1997 but Barrymore remained a fixture on British TV screens until tradesman Stuart Lubbock was found dead in the swimming pool at the star's home with severe internal injuries deemed consistent with a sexual assault.
While Barrymore was never charged with harming Lubbock, his poor handling of the public interest in the issue crippled his career.
Following the inquiry into Lubbock's death, TV channel ITV cancelled his contract and upcoming shows while the BBC withdrew a lucrative book deal.
Meanwhile, Boyle's recent appearance on Britain's Got Talent became a viral internet hit and has been viewed more than 100million times.

conveying emotions and confidence a musician have on stage.
