Book alert:- Gay Icons Richard Dyer, Sandi Toksvig Publication Date for book: July 09. Exhibition at NPG also July 09. The exhibition and book coincides with the fortieth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York, a significant event in the

I like that bit you posted Shelley, I particularly liked the quote she said,
"I don't think true musicians, actors, and artists have any choice."-k.d. lang which convinces me even more that in no way, shape or form does kd lang need to stoop to lip syncing Love is touching souls, well surely you've touched

APRIL EDITION OF DIVA MAGAZINE | #10 | ||

Just thought you may be interested in an article in this months Diva magazine. In their 'Blast from the Past' feature this month, 'Great Moments in
Lesbian History No. 2' !!!!! is the Vanity Fair cover, 'Cindy Crawford shaves k d lang, August 1993 New York City'. So I looked back to the last
issue to find out what had the No. 1 spot and it was .......................that kiss, from Channel 4's soap Brookside, between Beth Jordache and Margaret
Clemence ! nice as it may have been (I didn't see it), perhaps it should have also gone under the patio with Trevor as it put kd at No. 2.
Tried posting the cover and page, but photobucket have since deleted the images.........sorry.

Now that is a really interesting article where she can talk at length about the/her voice and all its influences. Her voice is after all what
draws people to her in the first place.

A very informative and interesting article. Was it from today's Observer? I am reading th wrong newspapers. I am not clear why they have interviewed her
now but I'm delighted they have. Thank you Shelley.

It was from the "How to Sing" insert in the Observer on sunday (10/5/09). The piece in the actual insert was a bit longer than the online article but
the photo was from the Invincible Summer set.

Yeah, that was certainly interesting stuff from k.d. about managing her voice. I guess we do take her for granted most of the time that she can belt out the
tunes note and pitch perfect and fail to recognise the enormous amount of work she needs to constantly do to care for and protect those very precious vocal
chords.

i think she considers it a real trust.
she says that she believes her voice to be a few lifetimes old. i have the sense she thus feels she is merely a caretaker, if you will; that it's up to her to protect and maintain this enormous gift. |

Exactly, fruitcake. From one of her biographies...."I don't think of it as something that I own. I just happen to be using it, and so I treat it with
a great deal of respect."
