deb, i am so sorry to hear this.
i'm no medico but my (much reduced) gut says to get that thing out. your boy does not need to
play russian roulette. as long as it will have to come out at some point, what's the upside to leaving it in?
what say you, doc abstorch?

Hello, Deb. I must apologise for taking so long to get here.
If you would like to repost it I will be happy to help if I can. Otherwise I can only hope he is okay.

Deb,
I realise this is worrying for you. Doctors have to be very careful about the advice we give, especially when we don't know all the details.
An enlarged spleen is at greater risk of accidental rupture but the risk is likely to still be small and I would have thought that spontaneous rupture was
very unlikely. The spleen can grow to an enormous size without rupturing.
I would suggest he avoids obvious risks like contact sports or indeed any sport with a significant risk of falling but I would hope that if his doctor does
not feel there is an immediate risk requiring urgent surgery, that should be reassuring.
I hope this is helpful.

We are waiting to be on the waiting list for a certain surgeon, the doc figured sometime in April he'd get on the waiting list, and the surgury should
(hopefully) be done early summer.

We have his surgery date, it is May 28th.
Guess when my kd lang concert is?
May 31!
I am still going however, as I know he will be feeling ok by the 31st. I am asking my in laws to come here and staying with him on the 31st as my husband
is driving me into the city.
He may still be in hospital, but he may be home, not sure at this point.
But he will be with close family either way.
Talk about a close call.
