aw beppy, don't feel bad. I was totally kidding. Just a little only child humor. love the kd pic!!! and I'm super jealous of where you took it. I've always wanted to visit Australia. Maybe one day I'll do that and see kd perform there. That would be awesome! I was lucky enough to be absolutely spoiledduring kd's watershed tour. I saw her a total of 6 times during the tour. I've converted enough of my friends that at different times I was offered a chance to see her free if I'd simply show up and go along! of course my answer was heck yea!! Plus I figured most of the ladies on the board have been fans since the earlier days so I had some making up to do (I've only been a fan since 2002). How long has kd been lucky enough to have you as a fan? and anyone else too, I've missed hearing the stories of our newest kd members.

Cora....you've been a fan since 2002? That's still 8 years.
I was aware of kd from about 1992/93, but I didn't become a big fan until a couple of years later. It was a bit like being injected with something, but it took a while to take real effect. |

Seeing her live is a whole different experience.

abs I second that! kd is by far the best at performing live. so many people lip-synch that I don't see the point I paying god knows how much to not see them really sing. I actually think I might like her more live then I do on cd. where exactly do you live boudica, if you don't mind me asking? I'm keeping fingers crossed that you will one day see her live. it's an experience you will not soon forget : )

Abstorch is right. There is no way you can leave a kd concert & not feel like your floating.
Boudica, never say never. Always think positive & follow your hopes & dreams. I always said i would never see kd in concert only because I always found out that kd had been here in Melbourne after she'd been, never before. Then one day everything fell into place & I not only got to see her once, but three times. kd is the best. kd is worth waiting for, in regards to seeing her perform. Dream, & hold onto your dreams & they will come true. Your day will come.

bbgal42 wrote:I think it has long been said by many fans that not only seeing her live is a uniquely wonderful experience but listening to live performances and comparing them to the album version of the song is often preferred. The live performance is somehow more animated and emotional than when she sang to a microphone in a studio. I certainly have often found that to be true. |

I've often wished that she could do a tour then make the record - though I know that isn't how marketing works. After seeing her perform most of an album live, I have a bit of a hard time going back to the CD. I had a 14 hour trip this week and brought along a stack of CDs to keep me company. I noticed Hymns near the bottom of the pile and since I hadn't played it in a very long while and it was the only kd CD there, I put it in but eventually took it out because though I love Hymns I had to quit playing it because some of the cuts sound like the desiccated remains of how she does them in a show. I should have picked an earlier album because i wouldn't have been able to remember them live.

Cora...I don't mind you asking where I live.
I live in Norfolk...which is the rounded part of the South-east of the UK...looks like a pig's bottom(smells like it too sometimes!!! ). Actual location isn't too much of a problem being 100 miles away from London, which would be the nearest kd concert venue...a couple of hours on the train. The problem is unfortunately me. I have a condition with my spine and also MS(my neurologist calls it a double lightning strike, that I have both), which a lot of the time makes leaving even the house a great difficulty. So physically I'm not up to a trip to see kd, it's not the actual location that makes it impossible.Fear not, I crammed in a lot before my body really started going wrong....I got to Wimbledon several times and met my favourite player Steffi Graf a couple of times, along with many many other greats. So I know the thrill of seeing and meeting your heroes in the flesh, (and the coldness of sleeping on the pavement to get tickets etc). I just never got the chance to see kd while I was able to. So you guys are going to have to all get to these concerts and tell us about them instead....with pictures if possible too. ![]() |

Love hearing all of this stuff from you long-time fans!!! Us newbies haven't even had a chance to get our feet wet yet!!
k.d.'s normal places to perform live--Australia, London, east or west USA coasts, etc. are so far from me that it would be very difficult, if not downright impossible, for me to get there. But, if she is actually in Nashville that's only 500 miles from me. That's only an 8 hr. drive ( I REFUSE to fly)!!!! Of course, recording in Nashville and touring in Nashville are two different things. I'll dream on!!! I'm sure fano would travel with me to Nashville--hey, fano--wouldn't ya???!!! |

Boudica, we will have to do our utmost to convey as much as possible to you, so that you enjoy the kd lang experience to the full.
Let's hope we all get the opportunity to do that. I constantly fear that kd will decide not to come to Britain. |

Boudica--oh, to have k.d. in concert only 100 miles away!!! I travel 100 miles to visit my gynecologist or to buy new shoes!!!
Around this neck of the woods it's a town----50 miles of wheat fields and grazing land---another town----50 more miles of wheat fields and grazing land, etc. A bit further west it's 100 miles between towns. Then you hit the Rockies. Beautiful, wide open country, awe-inspiring in its vastness--but not conducive to drawing k.d. in live concert!!!! We each have our own set of personal boundaries and fences that keep us from enjoying k.d. live. Booooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
