I caught a little of this on the news and want to know more. I did hear though that it will cost 3 trillion dollars.

I am totally opposed to any professional telling a woman what she can and can't do with her own body.

Even more disturbing, what about the 4%??? Insurance? There is always a huge deductible and you'll have to pay up front and claim the fees back later. How
does this help?

would that the proposed system were more like that of la belle france, doctor.

no, we the people would be required to select an insurance plan (talk about a rabbit warren of options and possibilities!) and pay the (very steep) premiums.
generally there is a large deductible, and even after that, one pays a co-pay out of pocket.

doubtless there will be some adjustment made for the poorest of the poor, but for the majority, one either dives in or is penalised at tax time. pay me now
or pay me later, as it were.

Interesting Fruitcake.
I respect your opinion on this.
It seemed to me that it was intended to be similar to the French system of Insurance where, one way or the other everyone including the poor is adequately
insured and no-one falls through the net.
The Insurance is paid for in large measure but not entirely by the State and any expenses incurred by the patient are refunded to a greater or lesser degree.
Private insurers would have to compete and give better provision or go out of business rather than being a cartel.
Unlike the British National Health System which is the only one entirely funded out of taxation but does not allow anyone using it to top things up if they
want, for example a Private Room in hospital unless they completely opt out, it allows flexibility depending on whether and how much one is able to pay.

A Government sponsored Insurance competitor to the private companies would or should have an interest in getting value for...

i'm afraid i cannot share your enthusiasm for this bill, doctor. in my opinion, it contains at least two major flaws, either of which should be a deal
    breaker.

first, it's a giant kiss on the insurance industry's cheek (pick one), as virtually every american would be forced to purchase health care
coverage. until this nation acknowledges that health care is a right, just as is public education, and not a profit generator for big
insurance, we will continue to flail in the dark.

second, the bill, in a bow to a small but exceedingly vocal segment of the population, would severely impact women's reproductive rights. in a shocking
flexing of government muscle, we would have the state determining what a woman's choices are with regard to her body.

the moment is ripe for a giant step forward in...
