deb, this is excellent news! i am thrilled for him and for your family. you've been through a very tough battle, but it seems now the smoke has cleared and the picture could not be better.

Deb I am pleaseed to hear that your son's operation is behind him now and he is recovering. I love the idea of his having a photo of his spleen on Facebook. It's nothing if not original.

i'm relieved to know about your back, deb, but easy on the meds, if you can. (although i do know that morphine can mos def be our friend. oh, yeah!).

Right now he is playing wii (which is practically all he has done since we gave it to him yesterday) and has his friend and his girlfriend visiting. Grandparents were here earlier.

He shows his incision to all who visit (lucky them) and has posted the picture of his spleen (he asked the doc to take it and he kindly complied) as his profile pic on facebook.

deb, as a veteran of several abdominal surgeries (who can ever get enough of those?!), i can verify that it takes every bit of 6 weeks to recuperate. or it did for me. however, i don't mean to pronounce a sentence. he is young and otherwise physically fit. just reassure him, if he gets impatient with himself, that surgery ain't beanbag and to cut himself some slack.

and please mind your back, deb. i don't like the sounds of that at all.

Anyways, my son is planted on the familyroom couch with a friend playing wii. He was quite happy to recieve an early birthday present. He isn't even taking pain killers that often, first ones today were after we brought him home this afternoon.

So I guess I can soon stop posting in this thread, and just go back to my How Was Your Day thread or whatever it was called! Yeehaw!

Ds is doing great today! Walking, talking, and now off the antibiotics. The doctor came in and said he will be discharged tomorrow if this continues. I feel comfortable going to the concert tonight now. I am just getting ready now, then will visit at the hosptial an hour before we start to Toronto.

I'm going away for awhile but am taking my laptop. I'll check in to hear when he's home and out of the woods. Wiis are fun! - my grandson has one.
