i know this has no relation to kd's music, except maybe Hallahujah, but i am asking, pleading for anyone who is inclined, to pray for my friend's husband, Sal. her name is Jayne. he contracted e coli on Easter Sunday eating raw salmon and his liver and kidneys are not responding. he has no appetite, and is in and out of consciousness. the hemorraging (sp) in his colon has finally stopped after 11 days. that is the only bright spot so far. he is 78, and strong, but if anyone will pray for a healing, i am asking you to. you don't have to tell me who you are if you don't want to. but, please, in Jesus' name, ask for a healing for Sal. i am very close to these friends.

i was so used to the msn way of reading and answering and reviewing topics, i am having a hard time here on yuku. all i see is the title of the topic, and can't seem to figure out how to see the whole message. i am seriously electronically challenged!! can anyone give me any advice?? please? thanks, quest.

Cancer Research

I think y'all will agree with me when I say that anything to do with kd lang is a subject close to my heart

Another subject that is close to my heart is Cancer Reasearch. I'm sure that many of us have been touched by Cancer in one form or another and last year I was asked to write a few poems to be included in a book of poetry, all proceeds to go to Cancer Research.

So if anyone is interested in donating to this worthy cause...just go to the address posted at the end of this post and follow the instructions.

The printed book will cost £5.09 steriling (excl p&p/shipping) My book cost £8.34 with the shipping fee.

Hi all. Been away from this board for a while. Many things have occured in the past three to four months. Was sent to er and hospitalized for 13 days and after numerous scans and tests and a biopsy, was diagnosed with Non hodgkin's lymphoma, a kind of cancer of the lymphatic system. Have been on a whirlwind journey, both physically and emotionally. Found a lump on my neck just a day short of my 20th birthday. been through intense emotional distress and thought I was gonna die after my first chemo. I've been thinking about this for quite some time now, and thought of penning an memoir in blog format, hopefully encouraging the people who been through certain struggles or adversities in life as well. There are also certain revelations I'll make about myself and the things that has happened in my personal life in the past 20 years thus far, (if my memory serves me well enough). One of the side effects of chemo is memory loss. While i remember many things...

So I know the board is closing as of February, but I wasnt sure if that meant on the 1st. I leave to go on holiday in Florida early tomorrow morning, and won't be back til the 4th, and even though we have Yuku, I thought I'd say a proper goodbye here, just incase when I get back MSN is no more, so here goes:

First off, a HUGE thank you Shelley for all that you have done, and continue to do for all of us If it weren't for you, we wouldn't exsist!

I have met (and will soon meet more, yea!) so many wonderful people that I now consider dear friends thanks to this board. It's been wonderful having a place where I can be myself and express freely (with only minor censoring lol) my opinions, thoughts, and just general feelings on all things k.d. realted and even somethings that arent.

I was in the chat room last night on yuku.I've been looking for ages but no ones ever been there !!! Finally last night there were 2 members there. But as it was so late I could'nt stay for long.

I have to admit that I was a chat room virgin ,so last night was my first time as it were.!!!!

Do many of you intend to use it ? and what kind of times would you tend to be on there if you did? I'd love to chat with some of you 'live'.

I'm beginning to get the jitters as February looms ever nearer. Despite it Hmmmmms and Grrrrrrrrs on ocassions, msn has been a really good friend to me. It has also brought to me much joy and pleasure in getting to know so many lovely, caring and like minded people at a time when I had unbearable pain in my heart. Just learned about an hour ago, that a fellow fan who has also become a very dear friend to me has been hurt very badly in her own garden by a car and is in an artificial coma right now and her life is in the balance. Please have some thoughts or prayers or something for her. I am in a state of shock right now as you can guess. I do hope she will get better soon.. OhChantal

Last year before the London meet up was on the cards, Pat, Flako and I got our diaries out to arrange a retreat. Now Pat's in Bristol, Flako's in Glasgow and I'm in Milton Keynes. So we needed somewhere sort of in the middle to meet. 'Somewhere near Hadrians Wall !!!!! ' I think was the suggestion. Well, looking at the map this little place in the middle of nowhere caught my eye.........wonder why..........LANGHOLM ...........hmmmmmmmm! So we booked a cottage for the weekend. If anyone would like to join us on the saturday (24th January) please let us know.........it would be great to see you. Especially any of our northern friends who perhaps cannot make it to London. Mobile phone reception is a bit suspect we have been told, so if you do want to go let us know in advance then we can arrange where to meet up. There's even a Monastery & Tibetan Centre in the vacinity. Fuff !!!! It's like Christmas all over again. Caz x

Christmas is over and we are into a New Year. The question was asked if there was a date early in the year relevant to kd we could maybe home in on for a meet up.

To celebrate a New Year and a time of regeneration and new growth in keeping with kd's buddhist beliefs seemed to be a good idea.

Wikipedia says this for an auspicious date for the Langmas Spring Fling
Parinirvana Day, or Nirvana Day is a Mahayana Buddhist holiday. By some it is celebrated on 8th of February. It celebrates the day when the Buddha achieved Parinirvana, or complete Nirvana, upon the death of his physical body.

So with that in mind are you free on Sunday 8th February 2009 to meet up in London at 11am? (The meeting point will be announced nearer the date).

When George Michael came into GMTV. I was a gibbering wreck and came out in one of those nervous red rashes. And I almost cried when kd lang performed live on my show. It was so moving and beautiful. I was a complete star struck fan
